Sadly we’ve lost our dear friend and club member, Mr August Langenegger, he passed away in late May.  Here is a picture of August and his wife Asun next to his cherished P2.  August owned this vehicle originally back in the 1960’s and sold it in the early 1970’s.  Some twenty years later he was looking to buy another Rover and came across his original car which had been lovingly restored.   August upon owning the car for a second time went on numerous Fly the Flag tours and other such events, all the while enjoying his lovely Rover.

For Sale – Rover 100 – Hobart Tasmania

1960 Rover 100, originally from Sydney. Believed to have had 2 previous owners, can put you in touch with previous owner.  Solid body (see pics), including the centre door pillars.  Minor blemish on front guard. Paint is fading differently on each panel, peeling off the aluminium r/h rear door. Windows, doors, catches all work as they should. Interior is nice, looks well preserved rather than shiny and new. Leather lovingly re-stitched, replaced only on the front seat (where the sun catches it). Woodwork is nice. Original toolkit – see pic. Mechanically sound but has had only one or two outings in each of the twenty years or so that I have had the car, one cylinder misfires until warm. Cylinder head was serviced a number of years ago, coolant is clean and clear. I fixed the handbrake ratchet (which had gummed up) so I would expect no problems with rego inspection. Goes, steers and stops well.  Brake booster was rebuilt soon after I first got the car. High profile radials with good tread.   Asking price:  $4,750 (accompanied delivery to Melb via ferry costs $ 500)

Photos and story – Rover 90 – Rust repairs Restoration Update 1

My 1955 Rover 90 has been a project that’s nearing 3 years now in duration.  Things are really coming along well with some terrific metal fabrication and welding work that’s been done by a true craftsman.  The ‘A Post’ kit, running boards and ‘B Post’ replacements were all sourced from JR Wadham’s (Wadham’s Link).  The running boards were taken back to the spot welds and the ‘A Post’ was rebuilt.
